Jamie-Lynn Sigler shares her tips for getting a good night's sleep

Actress Jamie-Lynn Sigler knows a thing or two about managing a hectic lifestyle. And for her, sleep is the key to doing it all.

The mother of one and star of “The Sopranos” talked to Fox News about her new campaign with Serta, called Declare Peace, which asks Americans to do just that in an effort to reduce stress and prioritize rest.

“Getting rest in general is of utmost importance for me, whether it’s 15 minutes or a good night’s sleep,” Sigler, 36, told Fox News. “And I found making my bedroom my sanctuary, and the center of my bedroom being my bed, my mattress, is of utmost importance.”

Sigler pointed out that while everyone’s definition of a sanctuary is different, her bedroom is neat, and stocked with big blankets, pillows and “candles all around.” She also practices meditation to help her relax.

“[My bedroom] is where I get my rest, it’s where I rejuvenate my body, where I can feel better for the next day, and I think being somebody that balances a lot in my life, like all Americans do, I mean we really have to start paying attention to ourselves,” she said.

In joining Serta for its campaign, which involves weekly bedroom essential giveaways (as well as a contest to win a bedroom makeover), she’s hoping to combat America’s always “on” culture.

“I think we’re in real need of that,” Sigler said.

Data back up her claim: According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, one in three Americans don't get enough sleep, which the agency describes as seven or more hours of nightly rest.
