Ram’s big pickups have seen huge sales in recent years, and now it may be gearing up to sell a small one alongside them.

Prototypes of a midsize pickup have been spotted being tested by Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) on public roads in Europe and the USA.

The heavily-disguised vehicles appear to be about the size of a Chevrolet Colorado or Toyota Tacoma, but feature an independent rear suspension with coil springs, indicating they could be based on a crossover chassis.

FCA has previously announced plans to launch a new small pickup in Europe and South America next year, but hasn’t confirmed what brand it will be sold under, or if will ever come to the United States, where it last offering in the segment was the Dodge Dakota in 2011.
