The only way this truck could be more Texas is if Sam Houston delivered it with a bed full of BBQ.

Chevrolet is introducing a University of Texas Special Edition Silverado. The $795 package is a step up from the already Lone Star State-ified Texas Edition Silverado, adding Sunset Orange Metallic paint that’s the spitting image of the school’s iconic Burnt Orange, Longhorn logos on the tailgate and bed sides, and a set of chrome steps.

It’s part of Chevrolet’s ongoing sponsorship of the university, and a savvy marketing move given the school’s rabid fan base.

UT has a population of over 50,000 undergraduate and graduate students, and nearly 100,000 paying members of its Texas Exes alumni association. According to the Collegiate Licensing Company, it has been number one in merchandise sales for eight years straight.

Although the Texas Edition Silverado is only sold in Texas, the UT package will be available nationwide on the similar Custom Sport model starting in October, just in time for the road trip to Lubbock for the big game against Texas Tech on November 1st.

Just don’t forget to lock the tailgate before you head into the stadium, considering Texas is #1 in tailgate thefts, someone might try to take this very special one home as a souvenir.
