This must be what Jawas drive on the weekend.

The Jeep Wrangler Sand Trooper is a showcase of parts from Chrysler’s Mopar division that’s being built by the automaker for the upcoming Specialty Equipment Manufacturers Association show in Las Vegas. Although the concept sketch shows a two-door with a soft top, the final product will be a four-door sans top, landspeeder style.

The extreme machine is fitted with portal axles to offer ultra-low gearing for sand crawling and simultaneously jack it up five inches without the need for a lift kit, 42-inch Super Swamper Bogger tires on beadlock wheels and a skid plate that runs the length of the truck. A 375 hp 5.7-liter V8 replaces the Wrangler’s standard six-cylinder and sits under a vented hood while a unique set of Fox Shox have been installed to handle all of the extra potency on tap.

Serious off-road gear including a Warn winch, LED lights and slush mats are in sharp contrast to the luxe Katzkin Leather upholstery, while the addition of a trailer-tow hitch receiver may make the Sand Trooper the ultimate go-anywhere tow vehicle for the coolest camper ever. There’s even a locking trunk for any broken-down droids you come across in the desert and a CB radio to call for help loading them.

If Luke had one of these, we’re guessing would have been a lot happier living on Tatooine.
