PARIS -- A police official says an armed employee of BMW France has taken a front-desk worker hostage at the German automaker's office in suburban Paris.

Elite police teams have been called to the site in Montigny-le-Bretonneux southwest of the capital after the hostage-taker fired at least two shots in the entryway.

The police official spoke only on condition of anonymity about the incident Monday. Further details were not immediately available.
