UN chief urges world leaders to accelerate negotiations on climate change

PARIS – United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon is urging world leaders to "accelerate" negotiations ahead of a December climate conference in Paris.

At a press conference in Paris Wednesday, Ban said climate change is happening and "We don't have time to waste. We don't have time to lose."

He called on negotiators to "look beyond their national interest."

A key U.N. conference in Paris is aiming at reaching a deal with more than 190 nations to keep global warming from reaching dangerous levels.
