ATHENS, Greece – Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu is due in Athens for a two-day official visit during which he is to meet with his Greek counterpart and deliver a speech at a Greek-Turkish business forum.
Authorities have imposed tight security in the capital, with a ban on demonstrations in a large part of central Athens from Friday morning to Saturday afternoon when Davutoglu leaves. Some major streets and subway stations will be shut for several hours.
Davutoglu is due to meet Greek Prime Minister Antonis Samaras, as well as Turks living in Greece and members of the country's Muslim minority.
Greece and Turkey have historically had strained ties, and continue to be at odds over several issues. Tension increased recently over oil and gas exploration rights off the divided island of Cyprus.
