Turkey's military has raised the death toll in a car bomb attack on a military police station in southeast Turkey to three soldiers.

A military statement on Friday said 24 other soldiers were wounded in the Kurdish rebel attack late Thursday that targeted the Mermer station near the mostly-Kurdish town of Lice.

The attack also touched of clashes between soldiers and the rebels of the Kurdistan Workers' Party, or PKK.

A fragile peace process between the PKK and the government broke down in July, leading to renewed violence between rebels and the Turkish security forces. The conflict has killed hundreds of people, including more than 300 police officers and soldiers.

The PKK is considered a terrorist organization by Turkey and its allies.
