Iraqi officials say the death toll from a suicide truck bombing south of Baghdad has risen to 47 people killed and 65 others wounded. A police officer says that 39 civilians were killed in Sunday's attack in the city of Hillah, while the rest of the dead were members of the security forces. Hillah is located about 95 kilometers (60 miles) south of Baghdad.

A medical official confirmed the causality figures. Both officials spoke on condition of anonymity as they were not authorized to release information.

Iraqi officials say a suicide bomber has blown up an explosives-laden fuel truck south of Baghdad, killing at least 11 people.

A police officer says that four civilians were killed in Sunday's attack in the city of Hillah, while the rest of the dead were members of the security forces. He added that up to 30 other people were wounded. Hillah is located about 95 kilometers (60 miles) south of Baghdad.
