LONDON – The Latest news on Britain's June 23 vote on whether to leave the European Union (all times local):

The chairman of the group of nations using the euro is urging Britain not just to remain in the European Union but to become a more active member of the bloc, as it used to be.

Eurogroup chairman Jeroen Dijsselbloem told EU lawmakers on Tuesday that the U.K. has "become more and more passive, defensive" in recent years.

He said: "I would really like to see them become once again an active member, in the forefront of designing and changing and improving what we're doing here."

Dijsselbloem said that "they once used to be."

His remarks come before Britons are due to vote in a June 23 referendum on whether to leave the 28-nation EU.
