Sweden's Queen Silvia has injured her foot and wrist while dodging a persistent photographer who tried to take snapshots of her and Princess Madeleine in New York.

A statement from the Royal Court says the 66-year old queen was in the city shopping with her youngest daughter Monday when a Swedish photographer tried to take their pictures.

The Wednesday statement says the queen tried to use a side door to get out of the shop, after the photographer was standing at the shop's main entrance. On her way to a parked car, queen fell "injuring both her foot and wrist."

Silvia is married to King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden. They have two daughters and one son.
