Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir has said that he believes it will be easier to deal with U.S. President-elect Donald Trump than with other American leaders who "talk" about democracy, human rights and transparency.

In an interview published Tuesday by the Emirati daily al-Khaleej, President al-Bashir said Trump is "a forthright person, who focuses on the interests of the American citizen, because he is a businessman, as opposed to those who talk about democracy, human rights and transparency".

Al-Bashir is wanted by the International Criminal Court for alleged atrocities in Darfur. The court issued an arrest warrant for al-Bashir in 2009 for crimes against humanity and war crimes, and added genocide to the charges against him in 2010.
