JERUSALEM – A spokeswoman for Shimon Peres says the former Israeli president has suffered a stroke and been rushed to a hospital.
In a statement, Ayelet Frisch said Tuesday that he was stable and fully conscious. She gave no further details.
Peres, 93, has held virtually every senior political office in Israel over a seven-decade career. He stepped down as president in 2014 after completing a seven-year term.
