Spanish police say they have arrested three people in connection with the fatal Christmas Day stabbing of an African immigrant that triggered clashes in a southern coastal city.

The Guardia Civil said in a statement Thursday three Spanish men were arrested in connection with the killing of the 41-year-old man from Guinea-Bissau on Dec. 25 following a road-rage incident. The arrests were made Wednesday.

Clashes broke out in a poor part of Roquetas de Mar, 570 kilometers (350 miles) south of Madrid, after the killing. Some 100 police were deployed to restore order.
