Spanish police say an apartment building has partially collapsed in the popular Canary Island tourist town of Los Cristianos, injuring at least three people.

A National Police spokesman said Thursday said it is not immediately known how many people were in the 21-apartment building at the time of the collapse.

He said firefighters were working to clear the rubble at the building, located in the built-up, central area of the southern coastal town on the island of Tenerife.

He said the cause of the collapse is not yet known.

The officer, who spoke on condition of anonymity in keeping with police regulations, said the three people suffered light injuries.
