Authorities in Slovenia say a former Kosovo guerrilla turned politician detained on a 2004 international arrest warrant issued by Serbia has been given back his passport.

The Kosovo embassy says Ramush Haradinaj, who was detained two days ago while he was returning to Kosovo after an official trip to Germany, will leave Slovenia later on Friday.

The former prime minister is wanted by Serbia on charges of committing war crimes against Serb civilians during the 1998-99 war, including kidnappings, torture and killings.

A U.N. war crimes tribunal cleared him of similar war crimes charges.
