BRATISLAVA, Slovakia – Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico has been hospitalized in a clinic in the capital, Bratislava, after he canceled his first foreign trip in his new term in office.
Dobroslava Krajacicova, a spokeswoman for the National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases, says the 51-year-old Fico has undergone a cardiac examination and doctors have decided he will stay hospitalized.
No more details were immediately available. Krajacicova says Fico will be at least a day in the hospital.
Fico was sworn in as prime minister again after his leftist Smer-Social Democracy party won a parliamentary election in March. He canceled his first foreign trip to neighboring Czech Republic earlier Thursday due to health reasons.
