SIOUX FALLS, S.D – Officials say a prison guard at the South Dakota Penitentiary in Sioux Falls has been killed during a failed escape attempt.
The Department of Corrections says the two inmates involved were apprehended on the prison grounds Tuesday.
The department says a second guard suffered minor injuries. The prison is on lockdown while the state Division of Criminal Investigation investigates.
