BRUSSELS -- Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov says Syrians should be allowed to sort out their country's problems without outside interference.
Lavrov said Thursday that Syria should follow the example of Yemen, where the long-time President Ali Abdullah Saleh stepped down after a 10-month uprising in exchange for immunity from prosecution.
Russia and China have vetoed in October a Security Council measure condemning the bloodshed in Syria.
They say NATO has misused a previous U.N. resolution authorizing the protection of civilians in Libya to justify months of air strikes that helped oust the late Libyan leader, Muammar Qaddhafi, from power.
