Authorities detain a man believed connected to the attacks
French authorities foiled a planned terror attack that would have targeted police south of Paris, the French interior minister revealed Tuesday.
Bernard Cazeneuve said two men, ages 20 and 24, had communicated with a French man in Syria to carry out the attack in Orleans. Officials said the men were arrested Saturday.
The man in Syria was believed to be the chief planner of the attack.
France has remained on high alert since the Paris massacre that left 130 people dead on November 13. The coordinated attacks targeted the Bataclan music hall, restaurants and cafes and the national stadium. Hundreds of people were wounded.
Since the beginning of 2015, Cazeneuve says France has thwarted at least ten significant attacks.
The city of Orleans is roughly 75 miles south of Paris.
