PESHAWAR, Pakistan-- A Pakistan official says gunmen have attacked a convoy of oil company workers in northwest Pakistan, killing six people and abducting two others.

Top regional official Khalid Umerzai says the attack on Thursday hit a convoy in Kohat region belonging to a Hungarian oil and gas exploration company.

He says the victims were all Pakistani nationals.

Kohat is a dangerous region close to the Afghan border where Islamist militants and criminal gangs are active.
