Officials say the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration has downgraded India's safety rating.

India's Civil Aviation Ministry spokesman, Uday Moray, said Friday that the FAA downgraded India in part because some pilots lacked sufficient training. He said India has already started training programs to address the problems. He said the issues should be fixed by March.

Moray said the downgrade will not affect current flights to the U.S., but Indian airlines will not be allowed to increase the number of flights they operate.
