President Barack Obama has nominated Lt. Gen. David Rodríguez, the No. 2 commander of the Afghanistan War, for his fourth star and to be Commanding General of the U.S. Army Forces Command, or FORSCOM.

Rodríguez would become the General of the service’s largest command, responsible for the training and mobilization of soldiers worldwide.

He will be replaced in Afghanistan by Lt. Gen. Curtis Scaparrotti, the Army commander at Joint Base Lewis-McChord in Washington state and the head of I Corps, which is based there.

In Afghanistan, Rodriguez commanded Afghanistan's Regional Command-East and the 82nd Ariborne Divicison, according to stripes.com.

Rodriguez, a native of West Chester, Pa., graduated from West Point in 1976.
