A nightmare nanny in Argentina faces child abuses charges after being secretly filmed hitting and stealing food from a toddler.
25-year old Eve Mantaras, seen in the video wearing a pink sports bra, was recorded slapping and backhanding the innocent 2-year-old boy, who is seated in a high chair. Then she coldly eats his food.
The boy's mother, Cristina Ceril, thought something might be remiss when she found bruises on her young son's arms, so in an attempt to see what was happening she set up a secret camera at the family home in the northeastern city of Paraná and linked it to her smartphone.
"We always thought she was a bit lazy around the house, but we never imagined for a second that she was violent, too," Ceril said, according to Yahoo News.
Ceril's neighbors had also warned the concerned mother that her 2-year-old and the toddler's 10-year-old sibling were often heard screaming or crying during the day when the nanny was at home alone with the kids.
"We would sometimes hear her with our son crying very early in the morning," Ceril said, according to the New York Daily News. "It now makes my blood run cold to think what she might have been doing."
"She actually stole my son's food and then hit him for saying he was hungry. She is sick."
Police and prosecutors are now using the footage to file criminal assault and child abuse charges against the nanny.
