South Africa's state broadcaster says armed men robbed one of its news teams in a Johannesburg street and were caught in the act on a news camera.

Broadcaster SABC says the robbery happened Tuesday night when journalist Vuyo Mvoko was about to go on air outside a hospital in South Africa's biggest city.

SABC video footage shows two men accosting Mvoko as he waits to deliver his report in front of the camera with a microphone.

No weapon is visible in the footage, but Mvoko said later in a SABC interview that one of the men threatened him with a gun when he did not immediately give up his cellular telephone. Mvoko says the thieves took two or three cellular telephones and a laptop.
