Police say the former Nepalese crown price has been arrested for marijuana possession in Thailand for a second time in two years.

Police Col. Chutrakul Madee says Paras Shah was taken into custody early this week after officers found marijuana in his hotel room in downtown Bangkok.

Shah was released on bail Monday.

He faced the same charges when he was allegedly found with marijuana in Thailand's resort town of Phuket in 2012. He is currently in Thailand on a tourist visa.

Nepal abolished the centuries-old monarchy in 2008. Shah was the only son of deposed King Gyanendra.

Shah was the target of public criticism during his years as crown prince because of his hard partying lifestyle and frequent brawling.
