LONDON -- A British auction house says it is selling a set of surgical equipment said to belong to a Nazi war criminal who oversaw a concentration camp.
Villa Hall Auctions says the box bore the name of Anton Burger, a commanders of the Terezin camp in then-Czechoslovakia. It says the box contained blades, saws and straps apparently used for a tourniquet.
The auctioneers said Tuesday that the artifact is being sold by the widow of a Jewish man whose parents survived the camp.
The item is expected to sell for up to 4,000 pounds (US$6,330) when it goes under the hammer Saturday.
Burger was in charge of the former Jewish ghetto in Terezin, north of Prague. He was sentenced to death after World War II but fled, eventually dying in Germany.
