BRUSSELS -- NATO says its aircraft flew 184 sorties over Libya on Saturday, the third day since the alliance assumed full control over the mission over Libya.
A news release Sunday described 70 of those flights as "strike sorties." These include all flights carrying bombs or missiles, although it doesn't mean that these were actually dropped at ground targets.
NATO does not release information on the number of targets bombed.
In first the three days of the NATO operation, alliance aircraft have flown a total of 547 sorties. Flights by fighters and attack jets accounted for about 40 percent of that total. The rest are by AWACS surveillance aircraft, aerial refueling tankers, maritime patrol planes and other support aircraft.
