More London Olympics tickets to be released Friday

LONDON – Organizers have announced that more tickets for the London Olympics opening and closing ceremonies and six sporting events will go on sale this week.

More than 43,000 contingency tickets for the ceremonies, and for athletics, swimming, football, volleyball, table tennis and boxing, will go on sale on the official Website from 10 a.m. GMT Friday.

Organizers said Wednesday that some of the last tickets to be released for the ceremonies start from 995 pounds (US$1,540) each

Over 8 million tickets have been sold for the Olympic and Paralympic Games, which run from July 27 to Aug. 12 and Aug. 29 to Sept. 9 respectively.

About 3 million tickets for both Games remain for sale.
