The wife of former Czech Prime Minister Petr Necas has gone on trial in Prague over a case that brought down his government.

Jana Necasova, formerly Jana Nagyova, is charged with abuse of power along with two former heads of the military intelligence agency and an intelligence agent.

Necas' government collapsed last year in a spectacular whirlwind of corruption and marital infidelity allegations.

State prosecutor Rostislav Bajger said Thursday that Nagyova — then Necas' chief of staff — ordered the military intelligence agency in 2012 to spy on Necas' estranged wife, Radka.

After his government's fall in June 2013, Necas admitted having an affair with Nagyova. He has since divorced his first wife and married Nagyova.

Necas is a witness in the case.
