A pair of videos has emerged online which appear to show Mexican hitmen ambushing and killing four police officers.

In the video, apparently made by the assailants, at least seven armed men wait in the forest before opening fire with automatic weapons on a Mexico state police SUV, according to El Universal.

The shootout took place on October 28 in Almoloya de Alquisiras, a municipality about 85 miles southwest of Mexico City.

The “sicarios,” or hitmen, are members of the “Familia Michoacana,” according to El Universal, which published an edited version of the videos on YouTube.

At the beginning of the videos the cameraman says, “State [police] commander, we’re coming for you now.”

Panning across the waiting gunman the narrator adds, “We’re going to kill the state police here because they’re sticking their noses into our business.”

The video then cuts to a view of a mountain road and the Mexican state police SUV comes into view. The gunmen immediately open fire and the SUV tumbles off the road.

In total, the gunfight lasts for over 55 seconds. Four officers were killed in the ambush while a fifth miraculously survived.

Police say they have arrested one of the gunmen and that the video is part of the evidence against him.

The authorities are now investigating how the video leaked online.
