Magnitude-6.7 earthquake shakes northern Argentina; no immediate reports of damage

A strong but deep earthquake has struck northern Argentina, but there are no immediate reports of damage.

The U.S. Geological Survey says the magnitude-6.7 quake occurred at 3:57 p.m. (1:57 p.m. EST; 1857 GMT) and was centered 465 miles (750 kilometers) south-southeast of La Paz, Bolivia. It was centered about 115 miles (190 kilometers) below the surface.
