Lithuanian prosecutors have charged a former employee of a state-owned aviation company with spying for Belarus.

Deputy Prosecutor-General Darius Raulusaitis told reporters Monday that the suspect collected information for the Belarusian special services about both Lithuania's military and strategically important companies in the country while working for air navigation provider Oro Navigacija.

Raulusaitis didn't rule out that the information was intended for Moscow. He says "it's likely that the Belarusian special services share the information they have with the Russian services."

The suspect, who was arrested late last year, was identified only as a Lithuanian national with the initials R.L.

Raulusaitis said a second suspect, also arrested late last year, was still under investigation.

The Belarusian Embassy in Vilnius declined to comment on the case.
