NIAMEY, Niger – Niger's minister of justice has confirmed several more Libyan officers have crossed the desert border into Niger and have reached the central town of Agadez.
Justice Minister Amadou Morou said Friday that the chief of staff of the air force as well as his pilot had arrived in Niger on Thursday night. In addition, he said the commanders of two Libyan military regions had also made their way to the country, as well as six other civilians. Morou declined to name the officers but local media reports have indicated that one of them is Gen. Ali Kana, an ethnic Tuareg who was known to be close to Gadhafi.
