A military spokesman says the Twitter account run by Kenya's military has been taken over by hackers claiming to be from the activist collective Anonymous.

Col. Willy Wesonga said Monday that the Kenya Defense Forces' Twitter account was hacked early Monday. Wesonga said no internal military systems have been infiltrated.

He said military technicians are trying to establish the identity of the people behind the cyberattack on the account, which is used to provide information to the public.

Another account run by a military liaison officer, Maj. Emmanuel Chirchir, was also hacked.
