Japan says revised data show economy contracted 1.9 percent in July-Sept, confirming recession

TOKYO – Japan says revised data show its economy contracted 1.9 percent in annual terms in July-September, confirming that the world's third-largest economy is in recession.

The data were worse than anticipated. Weaker business spending was one factor behind the slowdown.
