Italian 'garbage collectors' hijack armored vehicle

ROME – Two armed men dressed as garbage collectors attempted to hijack an armored vehicle in the Italian capital Friday, the ANSA news agency reported.

The two men approached the armored vehicle, used to carry cash, on a scooter in Rome's Pietralata district during the morning rush hour.

They fired at the vehicle, but security guards shot back, hitting one of the attackers in the leg.

The injured attacker was arrested and taken to the hospital for treatment, while his accomplice was on the run.
