JERUSALEM – The Israeli military says a Palestinian who tried to stab soldiers in the West Bank has been shot dead.
The military says Sunday's stabbing attempt took place near a base south of the West Bank city of Nablus. No soldiers were harmed in the incident.
The last four months have seen near daily Palestinian attacks that have killed 24 Israelis and an American student. Some 145 Palestinians have been killed, of which about 100 are said by Israel to have been attackers. The rest died in clashes.
Israel says the violence is being fanned by a Palestinian campaign of lies and incitement spread by religious and political leaders and on social media. The Palestinians say it is rooted in anger at decades of living under Israeli occupation.
