Indonesian police arrest newlyweds accused of murdering her alleged rapist

Police in Indonesia have arrested two newlyweds, accusing the husband of killing a man the couple said had raped the wife. After the man was killed, police say the couple ate his genitals.

Lampung province police Lt. Col. Sulistyaningsih said Rudi and Nuriah Effendi were being held for further investigation after their arrests Sunday at their house in Tulang Bawang district. Charges have not been filed.

Sulistyaningsih, who uses one name, said police found the victim's body in a burnt minivan Oct. 4. She said investigators concluded the couple had planned to kill the victim, a driver for a travel agency.

The couple married last month. The police spokeswoman said Nuriah said she was raped one week before their marriage and Effendi confessed to killing the man out of heartache.
