Houston's Stiletto Killer Gets Her Day In Court, Faces Life In Prison For Boyfriend's Death

The Houston woman accused of killing her boyfriend with a stiletto heel will have her day in court Monday, when opening statements start in a trial that could send her to prison for life.

Jurors will assemble to hear both sides on Ana Trujillo's case, which revolves around the death of 59-year-old professor Alf Stefan Andersson on June 9, 2013.

According to the Houston Police Department, officers responded to an assault in progress in the middle of the night at an opulent high-rise in Houston’s upscale Museum District.

Trujillo answered the door of the apartment and proceeded to show them the body of the man, a top researcher at the University of Houston, lying on a hallway floor between the entryway and the kitchen.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene after receiving multiple wounds to the head.

Lawyers for Trujillo have said she was acting in self-defense. According to the Houston Chronicle, during the arraignment, District Attorney John Jordan said the couple had spent the evening before the incident drinking tequila at a nightclub.

Once in Andersson's apartment, the newspaper said, there was a struggle and Trujillo allegedly stabbed his head, face and neck with the heel.

Prosecutors also alleged that she stomped Andersson and strangled him.

The trial, in state District Judge Brock Thomas' court, is expected to last more than a week.
