SAO PAULO -- Police say gunmen robbed 70 tourists on a catamaran ride in northeastern Brazil.

A police spokeswoman in the town of Sirinhaen says the four assailants used a stolen motorboat to board the vessel while it was cruising along the coast of the state of Pernambuco on Wednesday. The spokeswoman declined to be identified in line with departmental regulations.

She says all of those held up were Brazilians, with the exception of one Argentine tourist.

All were guests at the nearby luxury resort of Porto de Galinhas.

The spokeswoman says that in less than 10 minutes the gunmen stole cameras, cellphones, credit cards and cash. No one was injured.
