A regional court near Berlin has sentenced a 33-year-old German man to life in prison for the murder of two small boys, one of whom was kidnapped from a refugee registration center.

The court in Potsdam said Tuesday the man, a security guard identified only as Silvio S. in line with German privacy rules, wouldn't automatically be up for release after 15 years because of the seriousness of his crime.

Judges found Silvio S. guilty of kidnapping a 6-year-old German boy called Elias in Potsdam last July and later killing him. He was also found guilty of abducting and killing a 4-year-old boy from Bosnia, Mohamed, from Berlin's central migrant registration center in October.
