French official to AP: Man, teenager in IS video of Palestinian's killing are French citizens

A French official tells The Associated Press that a man and a teenager who appear in an Islamic State video showing the killing of a Palestinian have been identified as French citizens.

The official, who has close ties to intelligence services, also says authorities are investigating whether the man has links to the family of the Islamic extremist who attacked a Jewish school and paratroopers in southern France in 2012.

The official, who is not authorized to speak publicly about the inquiry, said Wednesday that another French fighter whose death in a suicide bombing was announced this week by Islamic State is a young teen.

The man in the video, released late Tuesday, speaks with a southern French accent and looks like Mohammed Merah's step-brother.
