The United Arab Emirates' national carrier Etihad Airways says one of its flights from Cairo to the capital, Abu Dhabi, has been diverted to a military air base in Dubai for "security reasons."

The Abu Dhabi-based carrier said passengers on Flight No. 650 disembarked after being diverted to Dubai's al-Minhad air base on Sunday.

It says 128 passengers and seven crew members were on board. Passengers will undergo an additional security screening before being transferred by bus to Abu Dhabi.

The airline gave no details on the nature of the threat.
