The Dutch foreign minister says a 67-year-old Dutch man is among those killed when al-Qaida fighters attacked a popular cafe and hotel in Burkina Faso's capital of Ouagadougou.

Minister Bert Koenders said late Saturday the Dutch victim was volunteering in the West African nation. He gave no further details but called it "painful and bitter that somebody who wanted to contribute to the development of the country has fallen victim to such a deed."

The Friday attacks left 28 people dead from 18 different countries.

News of the man's death came days after a Dutch U.N. worker was seriously injured in the deadly attack by Islamic extremists in Jakarta.
