A Pakistani official says the death toll from a bus that was swept away by flash floods has risen to 27.

Government official Iqbal Khan says Sunday that the bodies of 18 women, six children and three men have been handed over to relatives in the village of Sara Shega in the Khyber tribal region. He says three children were rescued and are being treated for severe injuries.

Flash floods triggered by monsoon rains swept away the bus carrying a wedding party Saturday.

Flash floods commonly occur during South Asia's summer monsoon season, which ends in September.

The Disaster Management Authority says 82 people have been killed across Pakistan since the monsoon rains started in July.
