In a Feb. 14 story about a dispute over U.S. military training of Argentine police, The Associated Press erroneously described the International Law Enforcement Academy in El Salvador as the successor to the U.S. military's School of the Americas.

The academy is a separate institution where U.S. civilian agencies mostly train Latin American police. The Defense Department replaced its School of Americas at Fort Benning, Ga., in 2001 with the Western Hemisphere Institute for Security and Cooperation.
