BOGOTA, Colombia (AP) — Colombia's army commander says a $1.2 million reward will be shared by informants who aided in the rescue of three police officers and an army sergeant held by leftist rebels for nearly a decade.

Gen. Oscar Gonzalez did not say Wednesday how many informants are involved. He does say one is a rebel deserter.

The biggest reward Colombia's government is known to have paid an informant is $2.5 million. That went to a single person who helped lead the military to the jungle camp of then-No. 2 FARC commander Raul Reyes.

Reyes was killed in a March 2008 raid on the camp, which was across the border inside Ecuador.
