China storm to gold in women's 10m synchro

BARCELONA, Catalonia (AFP) – The Chinese pair of Chen Ruolin and Liu Huixia eased to victory in Monday's world championship final of the women's 10m synchronised platform in Barcelona.

Four-time Olympic champion Chen had been partnered by Wang Hao for her gold medals in this event at last year's Olympic Games and the 2011 world championships, however Liu proved a capable replacement as the pair led from their first dive to finish comfortably ahead of the field on 356.28 points.

Canadian pair Meaghan Benfeito and Roseline Filion produced a brilliant final dive to claim silver on 331.41, less than three tenths of a point ahead of Malaysians Pandelela Rinong Pamg and Mun Yee Leong, who repeated their world championship bronze medal from four years ago with 331.14 points.
