China says European recovery of crucial importance

China is registering new concern over the fate of its top trading partner, the embattled eurozone.

Vice Foreign Minister Fu Ying says the support China has offered in terms of buying European debt and promoting imports from those countries is beneficial to both sides.

But she expressed some anxiety over the fate of the eurozone, saying that whether struggling countries could overcome the current difficulties was of "crucial importance" to China.

China's pledges of support for the eurozone have temporarily taken some pressure off European debt markets.

Fu's remarks came ahead of a visit by Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao to Hungary, Britain and Germany next week during which the financial crisis is expected to be a major topic of discussion.
